Methodology

In our study, we have conducted "Data Collection" and "Analysing the Data” to observe situations of Chiu Chow in Hong Kong.

Three domains were investigated: 1) Family, 2) Restaurant, and 3) Church. With two subjects in each domain, there are six subjects in total. In “Analysing the Data”, the reasons behind the observations of language choice and language identities will be discussed and compared with the results of all the subjects in the three communities.

In-depth Interviews

Face-to-face individual interview in Cantonese
15-30 minutes per consultant
Same sets of open-ended questions
Focus on participants' perceptions and experiences
Work on the language diaries with each subject document their actual language
Carry out domains analysis for each subjects
